Where this comes from
Every connection you make carries a source address so replies know where to go. This page reports the address our edge saw on the request that loaded it. Nothing is asked of your device and no permission is required — the address is a property of connecting at all.
What the results mean
- IP address
- Your connection’s public address. It may be IPv6 (long, colon-separated) or IPv4 (four numbers), depending on what your network prefers.
- Network operator
- The organisation that owns this address range — usually your ISP, or your VPN provider if one is connected.
- Cloudflare edge
- The data centre that served this page, identified by airport code. It is normally the one nearest you.
Common problems and fixes
- The address changes when I reload
- Some networks hand out addresses from a pool, and many connections prefer IPv6 when available and fall back to IPv4. Both are normal.
- It shows an address I do not recognise
- If the network operator is not your ISP, something is between you and the internet — a VPN, a corporate proxy, or mobile carrier NAT.
Frequently asked questions
Is my IP address private information?
Not exactly private, but not nothing. Every site you visit sees it, and it reveals your approximate area and your ISP. It does not reveal your name, your address, or anything about your device.
Why is my address so long?
That is IPv6. It has been the standard for years and most mobile networks now prefer it. It is not a fault, and there is nothing to fix.
Do you record my IP?
No. It is read from the connection, returned to you, and never written anywhere.
