Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of RunTheTests (the "site"). By using it you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site. There is nothing to sign up for, so using any tool is your acceptance.

What the site is

RunTheTests provides free diagnostic and utility tools that run in your browser. Most process your input locally and send nothing anywhere; a few make a network request to work, described on each tool and in our Privacy Policy. The tools are provided for reference and self-diagnosis.

Provided "as is", with no warranty

The tools are offered as-is and as-available, without any warranty. We work hard to be accurate and to state plainly what each tool cannot measure, but we do not guarantee that any result is correct, complete, or fit for a particular purpose. You use the tools, and act on their results, at your own risk. See the Disclaimer for the detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the site-checking tools against addresses you do not own or have permission to test, or to probe, scan or attack any system.
• Attempt to overload, disrupt or reverse the site's infrastructure, or to bypass rate limits.
• Scrape or republish the site's content at scale, or present the tools as your own.
• Use the tools for anything unlawful.

Our site-checker only reads what a server publicly returns and refuses private and internal addresses; you must use it lawfully and only where you are entitled to. See how it identifies itself on the About page.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some pages carry advertising and affiliate links, disclosed where they appear, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them. Affiliate links never change what a tool reports, and when a test fails, free fixes are always shown before anything paid. Pages that handle passwords, keys or encryption carry no advertising and no third-party scripts.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RunTheTests and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its results — including decisions about hardware, security, or repairs. The tools inform a decision; they do not make it, and the decision and its consequences are yours.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and original tools are ours. You may use the tools for their intended purpose, including at work, but you may not copy the site's content or code to republish it. Anything you type or paste into a tool remains yours.

Third-party services

Some tools rely on third parties — public DNS resolvers, our hosting provider's edge network, and advertising networks. Their availability and their own terms are outside our control, and we are not responsible for them.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site changes. The "last reviewed" date above reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
