How this processes your file
Codes are laid out on a real page size with real millimetre dimensions and printed through CSS @page, which is what puts them on the adhesive rather than near it. The arithmetic reports the grid that fits, how many pages you need, and the leftover margin. Two numbers matter beyond that. Module size — the width of one square — falls as the payload lengthens, and below about 0.4 mm phone cameras start to struggle regardless of how large the code looks. And print scaling, which browsers default to fit-to-page: a 3% shrink is invisible on a document and accumulates down a label grid until the bottom row sits off its backing entirely.
What the results mean

- Rule of thumb: a code scans from roughly ten times its own width.

Common problems and fixes
- The labels are slightly off the backing
- Print scaling. Set it to 100% or Actual Size in the print dialog — fit-to-page shrinks everything and the error compounds down the sheet.
- The codes will not scan
- Check the module size. A long payload at a small label size puts the squares below what a phone camera resolves.
- My label sheet is not listed
- Measure it and enter the dimensions. Packaging measurements are often the outer sheet rather than the label pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Why does print scaling matter so much?
Because a label grid has to land on physical adhesive. A few percent of shrink is imperceptible on a page of text and puts the bottom row of a label sheet off its backing entirely, since the error accumulates with every row.
How small can a QR label be?
Governed by module size rather than by the label. Keep each square above about 0.4 mm for phone cameras, which means a short payload if the label is small.
Should I test first?
Always. Print one page on plain paper and hold it up against the adhesive sheet. It costs a sheet of paper and saves a box of labels.
