How this test page works

A full diagnostic sheet for OKI printers: colour bars, a grayscale wedge, solid CMYK blocks, multi-size text and alignment marks on one page. OKI uses an LED printhead — a fixed array of light-emitting diodes across the page width — rather than the scanning laser most of their competitors use, and that single design difference produces a distinctive failure mode this sheet is good at revealing. Print it, examine each block, and read the result against the guidance beside it.

What the results mean

LED, not laser
A fixed array of diodes spans the page rather than a moving beam. Fewer moving parts, and one characteristic fault: a single dead diode.
A thin line that never moves
A hairline in exactly the same position on every page, in one colour, is the signature of a failed LED element. It does not recover with cleaning.
Visual only
The sheet gives you the pattern; you judge the print. Consumable and component status come from the printer's own menu.

Common problems and fixes

A hairline runs down every page in exactly the same place
On an LED printer this is the classic dead-element fault: one diode in the fixed array has failed, so the same pixel column is never exposed. It appears in a single colour, never moves, and does not respond to cleaning. Clean the LED head first to rule out debris, which produces a similar line, and if it survives that the head needs replacing.
Colours look right individually but not when combined
OKI colour models stack four separate LED heads and drums in line, so registration between them is what decides whether combined colours land correctly. Run the printer's colour registration adjustment from its menu and reprint the sheet — misregistration shows up far more clearly on the CMYK blocks and text edges than on a photograph.
White toner or specialist media is not transferring properly
OKI's white-toner and transfer-media models depend on the media settings matching the stock exactly, more so than ordinary printing does. Confirm the media type and weight are set for the actual transfer paper, and check the fuser temperature setting where the model exposes one — this is a configuration issue far more often than a hardware fault.

Where is the built-in test on an OKI printer?

Under Menu, then Print Information or Configuration on the device panel, which prints a configuration and demo page. Networked models also offer it through the embedded web interface at the printer's IP address. That print comes from the device itself, so it is unaffected by browser colour conversion and is the reference to compare against.

What is the difference between LED and laser printing?

Both fuse toner with heat; they differ in how the image is written to the drum. A laser printer sweeps a single beam across the drum using a rotating mirror, while an LED printer uses a fixed row of diodes spanning the page width. The LED approach has fewer moving parts, and its distinctive failure is a single dead diode leaving a permanent thin line.

Can a dead LED element be repaired?

Not individually — the head is replaced as a unit. Before concluding that, clean the LED head with the supplied cleaner or a soft lint-free cloth, since toner dust on the array produces a line that looks identical and does clean off. A line that survives a careful clean and appears on every page in the same position is the element itself.
