Each module prints at 0.284 mm, comfortably inside what a scanner reads. The bars are drawn as vector shapes, so they print at your printer's own resolution rather than being resampled from a bitmap — which is what keeps the module widths exact. Leave the white space either side of the bars clear: a border or a price sticker touching the quiet zone is the most common reason a correctly generated barcode will not scan.

What this cannot tell you

  • Generated and printed from your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Bars are drawn as vector shapes and printed at your printer's own resolution. A barcode saved as a bitmap and scaled on the way to paper is the commonest reason a correctly generated code will not scan.
  • Lays out a grid you specify rather than matching a particular label stock. Print one sheet on plain paper and hold it against your labels before committing a sheet of them.
  • Sequencing increments a trailing number and keeps its width. A value with no trailing number repeats unchanged.
  • Set page scaling to 100% or "actual size" when printing. Fit-to-page silently changes every module width on the sheet.

How this test page works

Choose a value, a printed width and a grid, and the sheet is laid out for printing. With sequencing on, the trailing number of the value is incremented for each label and padded to its original width — the asset-tag pattern that is the reason to want a sheet rather than a single code. Everything is drawn as vector shapes at the width you specify, so what reaches the paper is exactly the module width reported, provided the print dialogue is set to actual size rather than fit-to-page.

What the results mean

Labels per sheet
Columns times rows. The layout is a plain grid rather than a template for a particular label stock.
Sequence
Increments the number at the end of the value, keeping the digit count — so TAG-0007 is followed by TAG-0008.
Module width
Reported for the width you set. It applies to every label on the sheet.
Actual size
The one print setting that matters. Fit-to-page rescales the sheet and every barcode on it.

Common problems and fixes

The labels do not line up with my sheet
The grid is generic. Print on plain paper first and hold it up against the label sheet — then adjust columns, rows and width to match.
Some barcodes scan and some do not
Almost always the print rather than the generation. Check that scaling is at 100% and that toner or ink coverage is even across the sheet.
The sequence did not increment
It increments a number at the end of the value. A value ending in a letter has nothing to increment, so every label is identical.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print barcode labels at the right size?

Set the printed width here, then print at 100% scale with fit-to-page turned off. Those two together are what make the module width on paper match the one reported — and the module width is what decides whether a scanner reads it.

Can I number the labels sequentially?

Yes. Turn on sequencing and the number at the end of the value increments for each label, keeping its width — so a sheet starting at TAG-0001 runs to TAG-0024 across 24 labels.
